This medicine is a corticosteroid used to reduce itching, redness, and swelling associated with many skin conditions. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. APPLY A SMALL AMOUNT of medicine to the affected area. Gently rub it in until it is evenly distributed. Wash your hands after applying this medicine, unless your hands are part of the treated area. DO NOT BANDAGE OR WRAP the affected area unless directed otherwise by your doctor. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE on your face, groin, or underarms unless your doctor tells you otherwise. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature, between 59 and 77 degrees F (15 and 25 degrees C), in a tightly closed container, away from heat, moisture, and light. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children and away from pets. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, apply it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT use 2 doses at once.
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, including chickenpox, shingles, measles, tuberculosis (TB), skin infection, thinning of the skin (atrophy), a certain type of severe acne (rosacea), allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Tell your doctor if you have had a positive TB skin test, a recent vaccination or if you are taking an oral corticosteroid (eg, prednisone). Use of this medicine in CHILDREN is not recommended. Discuss with your doctor the risks and benefits of giving this medicine to your child. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions about taking this medicine.
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while using this medicine include burning, dryness, itching, or mild skin irritation. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience acne-like rash; excessive hair growth; inflamed hair follicles; inflammation around the mouth; itching, burning, pain, redness, or swelling of the skin not present before using this medicine; muscle weakness; symptoms of high blood sugar (eg, increased thirst, hunger, or urination; confusion; unusual drowsiness; flushing; rapid breathing); thinning, softening, or discoloration of the skin; or unusual weight gain, especially in the face. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue. IF OVERDOSE IS SUSPECTED, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. THIS MEDICINE MAY BE HARMFUL IF SWALLOWED.
