Reglan Information:
What is Reglan?
Reglan is a dopamine antagonist and antiemetic medication that is used to treat gastroesophogeal reflux disease (GERD) and its effects and symptoms, including heartburn. Other Reglan uses include treatment of gastroparesis in those with diabetes, and in relieving the nausea and vomiting that accompanies chemotherapy. It works by increasing stomach and intestinal muscle activity to help with faster emptying of the stomach.
How do I take Reglan?
Because there are different Reglan uses, this drug may be administered either through injection or it can be taken orally in tablet form. If you are taking the oral dosage, follow the prescribed schedule, taking it on an empty stomach and no sooner than thirty minutes before meals. The frequency of dosing will vary according to the patient profile. For conditions requiring administration by injection, follow the schedule and procedure as prescribed by the doctor. Do not take more than the directed amount, and do not take Reglan for a period longer than what the physician prescribes.
