Omnipred Information:
What is Omnipred?
Omnipred is a drug that acts as a synthetic glucocorticoid, a derivative of cortisol. It treats a variety of inflammatory and autoimmune conditions and some cancers depending on how it is administered. Omnipred is an ophthalmic, a medication used to treat ocular conditions. Inflammation in the eye caused by various conditions may be significantly reduced when Omnipred is introduced.
How do I take Omnipred?
The drug Omnipred is administered by eyedropper. Tilt your head back and pull down the lower eyelid of the affected eye to create a small pocket. Hold the dropper above the eye and face the tip down. Look away from the dropper and squeeze a single drop. Close your eye and gently press your finger to the inside corner of the eye to ensure that all the liquid is absorbed. Wait at least 5 minutes between multiple drops in the same eye.
Before taking Omnipred, tell your doctor if:
- You have glaucoma
- You have recently undergone cataract surgery
- You have a herpes simplex
- You are pregnant, nursing, or planning to become pregnant
- You are using any other prescription or non-prescription drugs or supplements
- You have any food or drug allergies
What are the possible side effects of taking Omnipred?
Use of Omnipred may include some common, mild side effects such as temporary cloudy vision, increased sensitivity to light, stinging, burning, itching, or irritation in the eyes. Notify your doctor immediately if you experience any severe side effects, including pain behind the eyes, sudden intense vision changes, severe headache or migraine, sudden eye irritation, blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain, appearance of halos around lights, or swelling, draining, or crusting of the eyes.
What if I forget to take a dose of Omnipred?
Take the dose you missed to make it up as soon as you remember. Skip any of your missed doses if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Be sure you never take extra medicine to make up for missed doses.
How do I store Omnipred?
Store the drug Omnipred at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Keep the cap of the bottle or tube tight. Do not allow Omnipred to freeze.
What happens if I overdose on Omnipred?
Though you may not experience any life-threatening side effects, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 or get to an emergency room immediately if you suspect overdose or notice any extremely severe side effects or signs of an allergic reaction.
