Natacyn Information:
What is Natacyn?
Natacyn is an antifungal drug that is prescribed to treat fungal eye infections. It works by killing the fungus causing the infection.
How do I use Natacyn?
Natacyn is usually only prescribed for a short course of treatment; use it exactly as prescribed by your doctor, and do not use it for any shorter or longer than instructed. Before each application, wash your hands and shake the eye dropper bottle. Hold the eye dropper above the affected eye while tilting your head back and pulling down on your lower eyelid. Carefully squeeze a drop of the medication into your eye while looking up and away from the dropper. Close your eyes for at least 2 or 3 minutes after applying a drop, with a finger pressed to the inside corner of your eye to keep medication from leaking out.
Before using Natacyn, tell your doctor if:
- You are allergic to this or any other medications
- You are using any other prescription or non-prescription drugs or supplements
- You are breastfeeding, pregnant, or trying to become pregnant
What are the possible side effects of using Natacyn?
Common side effects of Natacyn include watery eyes, tearing, or feeling as if something is stuck in your eye. Mild side effects typically go away on their own; if you have any that are long-lasting, tell your doctor. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience unusual vision changes, eye pain, eye redness or swelling, chest pain, or difficulty breathing.
What if I forget to use a dose of Natacyn?
Administer the missed dose once you remember, unless it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. If this is the case, skip the missed one and administer the next dose at the usual time. Do not apply extra drops to make up for the missed dose.
How do I store Natacyn?
Store Natacyn eye drops at room temperature; do not allow the liquid solution to freeze. Keep the bottle tightly sealed between doses, and store it somewhere that children and pets can’t reach. If the medication has expired or you no longer need it, ask your pharmacist how to safely dispose of the leftover solution.
What happens if I overdose on Natacyn?
The effects of an overdose on Natacyn are unknown. If you are worried that you or someone in your home has overdosed or swallowed some of the medication, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 to find out what to do.
Warnings
To avoid contamination, do not let the Natacyn eye dropper touch your eye or any surface. Avoid using the medication if it has changed colors or has particles floating in it. If your doctor has prescribed any other eye drops, wait at least 10 minutes after your Natacyn application to use them. Do not wear contact lenses during your course of treatment. Be careful driving after applying Natacyn, as this medicine may cause temporarily blurred vision.
