Glatopa Information:
Glatopa is a collection of amino acids that control functions of the human immune system. Clinicians believe that it works by acting on the parts of the immune processes responsible for the pathogenesis of MS. Increased regulation of the immune system in patients who suffer from MS has shown efficacy in reducing the symptoms associated and preventing or reducing the number of relapses.
Glatopa is an injectable medicine. Your doctor will show you how to inject at home, but you should not self-inject if you do not fully understand how to administer the medicine and dispose of it properly. Wash and dry hands before preparing the syringe and administering the shot. Be sure to inject at a different site on the body each time you administer. Your doctor will provide you with information about safe injection sites. Throw away used vials of medicine and syringes immediately following each injection.
Before using glatopa, tell your doctor if:
· You are allergic to glatiramer or mannitol
· You have allergies to any other medicines or foods
· You are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or nursing
· You have any additional medical conditions
As with similar injections, use of glatopa may cause minor side effects, including redness, minor pain, itching, swelling, a lump, or skin changes at the site of injection. If you experience severe side effects such as chest pain, flushing (warmth, redness, or tingling), pounding heart, or chest fluttering, alert a medical professional immediately.
Inject your missed dose the moment you remember. If it is already time or near time for your next dose, skip the dose that you missed. Never take extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.
Store the prefilled syringes and vials of glatopa in the refrigerator, but do not allow the medicine to freeze, as it may no longer work if it freezes. Glatopa can also keep for up to 30 days at room temperature when placed away from heat, moisture, and light. Be sure to prevent children and pets from reaching this medicine.
You may experience some of the side effects listed as severe if you overdose on the drug glatopa. Seek emergency medical attention or call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.
Follow advice from your doctor concerning diet and exercise while using the drug glatopa. Use your disposable needles and syringes only once. When disposing of needles and syringes, be sure to follow state and federal laws. Use a puncture-proof disposal container if available. Do not stop using glatopa without clearance from your physician.
