What is Cromolyn? Cromolyn is a generic oral inhalation and it is prescribed to symptoms caused by asthma, including shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, coughing, wheezing, and chest tightness. Cromolyn is also used to prevent breathing difficulties caused by other factors including exercise and the inhalation of substances the patient may be sensitive or allergic to, such as pollen, dust mites, perfume, and pet dander. Cromolyn helps to prevent breathing difficulties by preventing the release of the substances in the body that cause inflammation. |
How do I use Cromolyn?
Cromolyn comes as a liquid that is to be inhaled orally using a nebulizer. Frequency of use depends on the reason for using this drug. If it is being used to prevent symptoms of asthma, it is typically prescribed to be used 4 times per day. If it is being used for breathing difficulties during exercise or due to inhalation of certain substances, it is typically prescribed to be used 10 to 15 minutes before exercise or before you plan to come into contact with such substances.

What if I forget to use a dose of Cromolyn?
Take your missed dose of Cromolyn as soon as your remember to take it. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue to take the medication as prescribed. Do not take a double dose of Cromolyn.
How do I store Cromolyn?
Store this medication securely in the container in which it came, at room temperature. Keep it away from excess moisture or heat, and keep the Cromolyn vials in the foil pouch until you are ready to use them. Keep out of reach of children and away from pets. Properly dispose of any expired or unnecessary medication.
What happens if I overdose on Cromolyn?
In case of overdose, seek immediate medical attention.
