Allegra Information:
What is Allegra?
Allegra is an antihistamine that comes in the form of a white to off-white crystalline powder. It works by blocking histamine which can produce symptoms of sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose. It is typically formulated as a tablet, disintegrating tablet, or liquid for oral administration. Allegra is used to relieve the allergy symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis, including symptoms like runny nose; sneezing; red, itchy, or watery eyes, throat, or roof of the mouth. It is also used to relieve symptoms of hives including itchiness and rash.
How do I take Allegra?
Use our Allegra coupon that’s printable or our discount card to buy your medication in your local pharmacy. Follow the dosage given by your prescribing doctor. Typically, for seasonal allergies and hives, the recommended dose for adults and children 12 years of age or older is 60 mg twice daily or 180 mg once daily. For children 2-11 years of age, give 30 mg twice daily. Children 6 months to 2 years old should receive 15 mg twice daily, and the oral liquid suspension is used for children less than 6 years old.
Before taking Allegra, tell your doctor if:
- You are allergic to Allegra or any other medications, or any of the ingredients in Allegra tablets or suspension.
- You are taking any other prescription or nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements. Especially the following: erythromycin or ketoconazole.
- You are taking an antacid containing aluminum or magnesium (Maalox, Mylanta, others), take the antacid a few hours before or after Allegra.
- You have or have ever had kidney disease.
- You have kidney issues or difficulty urinating.
- You are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding.
What are the possible side effects of taking Allegra?

What if I forget to take a dose of Allegra?
If you miss a dose of Allegra, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
How do I store Allegra?
Allegra should be kept in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture. Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed.
