Trilipix Information:

This medicine is a lipid-lowering agent used for lowering high cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood. It also increases high-density lipoprotein (HDL, "good") cholesterol levels. It is used along with an appropriate diet. It may also be used in combination with other cholesterol-lowering medicines.
Follow the directions for taking this medicine provided by your doctor. This medicine has a MEDICATION GUIDE approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Read it carefully. Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist any questions that you may have about this medicine. TAKE THIS MEDICINE with or without food. SWALLOW THIS MEDICINE WHOLE. Do not open, crush, chew, or dissolve before swallowing. If you cannot swallow this medicine whole, tell your doctor. You may need a different medicine. IF YOU ALSO TAKE A BILE ACID-BINDING RESIN (eg, cholestyramine), do not take it within 4 to 6 hours before or 1 hour after taking this medicine. Check with your doctor if you have any questions. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature, between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C), away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. KEEP THIS MEDICINE out of the reach of children and away from pets. TAKE THIS MEDICINE ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE to get the most benefit from it. Taking this medicine at the same time each day will help you remember to take it. CONTINUE TO TAKE THIS MEDICINE even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. DO NOT take 2 doses at once. DO NOT take more than 1 dose of this medicine in the same day unless your doctor tells you otherwise.
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking anticoagulants (eg, warfarin), beta-blockers (eg, propranolol), colchicine, estrogen, HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (statins) (eg, simvastatin), or thiazide diuretics (eg, hydrochlorothiazide). Tell your doctor if you are taking immunosuppressants (eg, cyclosporine) or other medicines that may harm the kidney (eg, aminoglycoside antibiotics, such as gentamicin; amphotericin B; nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs / NSAIDs, such as ibuprofen; tacrolimus; vancomycin). Ask your doctor if you are unsure if any of your medicines might harm the kidney. DO NOT START OR STOP any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, including a history of diabetes, underactive thyroid, heart problems (eg, heart blood vessel problems), gallbladder problems (eg, gallstones), pancreatitis, kidney or liver problems, muscle problems, blood clots in your veins or lungs (deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism), alcohol abuse, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Tell your doctor if you are very overweight, have an inactive lifestyle, have a poor diet, have trouble swallowing, or drink alcohol. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you have gallbladder problems, liver problems (eg, cirrhosis, hepatitis), persistent abnormal liver function tests, or severe kidney problems. USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED if you are on dialysis or if you are breast-feeding. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about using this medicine.
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while taking this medicine include back pain; diarrhea; dizziness; headache; heartburn or indigestion; nausea; nose and throat irritation; or stuffy or runny nose. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience calf or leg pain, swelling, redness, or tenderness; chest pain; coughing up blood; dark urine; decrease in amount of urine produced; fever, chills, or persistent sore throat; loss of appetite; muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness (especially along with fever or unusual tiredness); pale stools; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin; severe or persistent headache or dizziness; severe or persistent nausea or vomiting; shortness of breath; stomach pain; unusual bruising or bleeding; unusual tiredness or weakness; or yellowing of the skin or eyes. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue. This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If you have questions about side effects, contact your healthcare provider. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions. IF YOU WILL BE USING THIS MEDICINE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, be sure to obtain necessary refills before your supply runs out. CHECK WITH YOUR PHARMACIST about how to dispose of unused medicine.
