Robaxin is a muscle relaxant, used in combination with rest and physical therapy to relieve pain caused by strains, sprains, overexertion, or other damage to musculoskeletal tissue. How do I take Robaxin?

Robaxin is an oral medication, typically taken four times a day. The Robaxin drug should be taken with water to facilitate ingestion. Depending on your response to the medication, your doctor may increase or decrease the strength or frequency of dosage.

Before taking Robaxin, tell your doctor if:

• You are allergic to methocarbamol

Occasionally, those taking this medication have reported side effects. Less severe Robaxin side effects include dizziness, drowsiness, fever, nausea, urine discoloration (green, black, or blue), and vision problems. If any of these persist or worsen, contact your healthcare physician immediately. 

Severe Robaxin side effects requiring immediate medical attention include the appearance of a rash and/or itching, or signs of an allergic reaction (swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat; difficult breathing or swallowing). If you experience these or other symptoms that you may think are related to taking this medication, contact your doctor.

What if I forget to take a dose of Robaxin?

If you miss your regularly scheduled dose of Robaxin, take it as soon as your remember and are able. However, if it is near to the time to take your next dose, skip the missed one and resume the regular schedule. Do not take multiple doses of Robaxin to compensate for missing a dose. If you miss more than two consecutive doses, consult your physician.

How do I store Robaxin?

You should store Robaxin in its original container, away from the extremes of temperature and humidity, and out of the reach of children. Dispose of any unused or expired portions of this medication according to the instructions of your pharmacist.

What happens if I overdose on Robaxin?

If you suspect an overdose of Robaxin, contact Poison Control at 1-800-222-2122. If the individual has stopped breathing or lapsed into unconsciousness, contact Emergency Services immediately at 911.

Warnings

Taking the Robaxin drug can cause drowsiness; do not drive, operate heavy machinery, or use power tools until you understand the effects this medication has on you. Alcohol can exacerbate the Robaxin side effects. If you become pregnant while taking Robaxin, contact your physician.
