What is Phenelzine?
Phenelzine is a generic, monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) that comes as a tablet and it is used to treat depression in patients for whom other medications have not proven helpful. How do I use Phenelzine?
Phenelzine tablets are to be taken orally, and this drug is typically prescribed to be taken 3 times per day. Follow your doctor’s instructions for using this medication.
It may take up to 4 weeks to feel the full benefit of this medication. Do not stop taking this medication without first consulting with your doctor, as abruptly stopping the use of this medication may cause you to experience withdrawal symptoms.

Phenelzine may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, and fainting when you get up too quickly from a lying position, especially when you first start using this medication. Take care to get up slowly from a lying position in order to prevent these side effects from occurring.

Do not drink alcohol while taking this Phenelzine, as alcohol may make the side effects of this drug worse
- This drug may remain in your body for several weeks after you stop taking it. Tell your doctor or pharmacist that you were recently taking this drug but stopped, before you take a new medication.
What are the possible side effects of using Phenelzine?

What if I forget to use a dose of Phenelzine?
Take your missed dose of Phenelzine as soon as your remember to take it, unless it is almost time for the next dose. If this is the case, skip the missed dose and resume the regular dose schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
