What is Onexton?

Onexton is a topical antibiotic in gel form that combines the medications benzoyl peroxide and clindamycin. How do I take Onexton?

Onexton is a topical gel applied to the skin, usually twice a day. Before applying, thoroughly wash your hands and the targeted area with warm water and soap; use a clean towel to pat dry your face. Spread a thin layer of Onexton over the area using your fingertips and gently massage it in. If there is a white film residue, too much was applied; gently wipe the extra off. • You are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are nursing a child

• You have chronic skin problems
• You are using any topical applications to treat acne
• You are taking erythromycin or other oral medications for acne
• You have, or have had, ulcerative colitis, stomach problems, severe diarrhea caused by a reaction to antibiotics, or a severe sunburn

What are the possible side effects of taking Onexton?

Some individuals have reported Onexton drug side effects. Less severe side effects include dry, red, itching, or peeling skin. If any of these conditions persist or worsen, contact your doctor.

Severe side effects requiring immediate medical attention include blood or mucus in stools, severe diarrhea, stomach cramps or pain, changes to the color or texture of nails or skin that indicate fungal infection, or signs of an allergic reaction (rash, hives, blistering, itching, difficulty breathing or swallowing, or swelling of the face, mouth, lips, throat, or tongue).

What if I forget to apply a dose of Onexton?

If a scheduled application of Onexton is missed, apply it as soon as you remember and are able. However, if you are on a dosing regimen, and the time is near for the next scheduled application, skip the one missed and resume the prescribed regimen. Do not increase the quantity or the frequency of application to make up for the one missed.

How do I store Onexton?

Keep Onexton tightly sealed in its original packaging, out of the reach of children, and away from the extremes of temperature and humidity. Do not allow this medication to freeze. Dispose of any unused or expired amounts according to the instructions of a pharmacist. Dispose of any unused medication after ten weeks.

What happens if I overdose on Onexton?

If the Onexton drug is accidentally ingested, contact the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222. If the individual has stopped breathing of lost consciousness, contact Emergency Services at 911.

This medication is for topical use only; do not ingest or inhale it. Contact your doctor if you become pregnant while using Onexton. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight. Do not let this medication get on hair or clothing. Do not get this medication in the eyes, nose, or mouth. Onexton may cause the skin to dry; ask your doctor to recommend a skin moisturizer. Acne may worsen during the first few weeks when using this medication.
