Bensal Hp Information:

What is Bensal HP?

Bensal HP contains both benzoic acid and salicylic acid. Benzoic acid fights bacterial infections, and salicylic acid promotes the shedding of dead skin cells. When combined in the Bensal HP topical ointment, these ingredients help treat skin irritation caused by infections, burns, insect bites, and medical conditions.

How do I take Bensal HP?

Apply Bensal HP to the affected skin only as often as your doctor has instructed you to (usually twice a day). Wash your hands and the affected area before every application, and wash your hands again when you are done. Cover the affected area completely with Bensal HP, gently rubbing it in with a cotton gauze pad or a cotton swab. Do not cover the treated area with bandages unless your doctor has given you permission to do so.

Before taking Bensal HP, tell your doctor if:

  • You are allergic to polythene glycol, benzoic acid, or salicylic acid
  • You have any other allergies
  • You are using any other prescription or non-prescription drugs, especially other topical medications
  • You are breastfeeding, pregnant, or trying to become pregnant

What are the possible side effects of taking Bensal HP?

Bensal HP sometimes causes a mild warming or burning sensation for up to five minutes after the application. If this sensation continues or gets worse, or if you have any unusual skin irritation, let your doctor know. Stop using the Bensal HP ointment if the burning sensation lasts more than a week.

What if I forget to take a dose of Bensal HP?

Apply the missed dose of Bensal HP as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for another application. If this is the case, skip the missed application and resume your normal schedule. Do not use more of the ointment than you normally would at one time.

How do I store Bensal HP?

Keep the Bensal HP cap tightly closed when you are not using this medication, and do not let the tip of the tube touch any surfaces when you are using it. Store the tube in a dry space at room temperature, away from pets and children. If you no longer need this ointment or it has expired, talk to your pharmacist about how to safely dispose of it.

What happens if I overdose on Bensal HP?

Because Bensal HP is a topical medication, it is unlikely that you will overdose when using it as intended. However, it may be harmful when swallowed. If you or anyone in your household has swallowed some of the medication, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 right away.

Warnings

Do not get the Bensal HP ointment in your eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina. If you do accidentally get the medication in any of these areas, rinse with water immediately. Do not use other topical medications on the areas of skin you are treating with Bensal HP, unless your doctor has told you to. Do not clean the treated skin areas with wet packs, as these may make the active ingredients in Bensal HP less effective.

Brand Names

Bensal HP is a brand name drug, and at this time, there is no cheaper generic equivalent. If you need this medication but have discovered that your insurance doesn’t cover it, remember to get a Bensal HP coupon or discount card. You may be able to reduce the Bensal HP cost by as much as 66%.
