What is Staxyn?
Staxyn, which contains vardenafil, is proven to help erectile dysfunction. Vardenafil is a PDE5 inhibitor medication that works by relaxing the smooth muscle tissue in the penis which allows the blood to flow more freely. Staxyn is a prescription tablet that dissolves on your tongue. It does not cause sexual arousal and cannot increase libido. It only works to help achieve an erection following sexual stimulation.
How do I take Staxyn?
Staxyn can be taken with or without food. STAXYN should be taken orally, as needed, approximately 60 minutes before sexual activity. The maximum dose is one STAXYN tablet per day. Sexual stimulation is required for the medication to be effective. STAXYN should be placed on the tongue with dry hands and allowed to disintegrate. The tablet should be taken without liquid and it should be taken immediately upon removal from the blister pack. Do not chew Stayxn tablets.
Before taking Staxyn, tell your doctor if:
- You have heart problems.
- You have low blood pressure or have high blood pressure that is not controlled.
- You have had a stroke or a seizure.
- You have kidney or liver problems.
- You have retinitis pigmentosa, a rare genetic eye disease.
- You have stomach ulcers.
- You have a fructose intolerance.
- You take other medications, especially medicine for an abnormal heartbeat.
What are the possible side effects of taking Staxyn?
Some possible side effects of taking STAXYN include but are not limited to cardiovascular effects, priapism, QT prolongation, blurred vision, sudden hearing loss and more. Other adverse drug reactions include headache, flushing, nasal congestions, dyspepsia, dizziness, and back pain.
What if I forget to take a dose of Staxyn?
STAXYN is taken as needed. There is no requirement for a missed dose.
How do I store Staxyn?
STAXYN should be stored at room temperature 59-86 degrees F. It should be stored in a safe place and kept out of the reach of pets and children.
What happens if I overdose on Staxyn?
In case of overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Signs of overdose on Staxyn include back pain and abnormal vision.
Warnings
Talk to your doctor if you are taking other medications that may cause an adverse reaction with Staxyn. This medication should not be used with nitrates or street drugs.
