Prevpac Information:
What is Prevpac?
Prevpac is a combination of three medications, lansoprazole, amoxicillin, and clarithromycin, and is prescribed for the treatment of stomach ulcers with H. pylori (Helicobacter pylori), a bacterial infection. Lansoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor, which decreases stomach acid volume; clarithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic and amoxicillin is penicillin antibiotic, each of which fights bacterial infections.
How do I take Prevpac?
Prevpac is dispensed in doses of four pills, a tablet and three capsules; all four must be taken together, usually twice a day, before meals. However, the precise dosing regimen will vary depending on your doctor’s prescription. Do not crush, chew, or break the capsules or tablet. If you have difficulties swallowing this medication, contact your doctor.

What are the possible side effects of taking Prevpac?
Some individuals have reported side effects after taking Prevpac. Less severe side effects include thirst, unusual taste, stomach upset, changes in appetite, and headache. However, if any of these symptoms persist or worsen, contact your doctor.
Severe side effects requiring immediate medical attention include signs of an allergic reaction (rash, hives, itching, blisters on the skin, fever, swelling of the face, mouth, lips, throat, or tongue, difficulty breathing or swallowing); pain in bones, muscles, or joints; confusion; vomiting; stomach cramps or pain; problems urinating; unusual bleeding; fatigue; vaginal discharge; or vaginal itching.
What if I forget to take a dose of Prevpac?
If you miss a scheduled dose of Prevpac, take it as soon as you remember and are able. However, if it is near the time for the next scheduled dose, skip the one missed and resume the regular dosing regimen. Do not take multiple doses to make up for one that was missed.
