Diflucan Information:

What is Diflucan?

Diflucan is a medication that is used to treat and prevent multiple kinds of fungal and yeast infections. Diflucan is part of a family of medications called azole antifungals that work by discontinuing the growth of various types of fungi. Diflucan uses include the treatment or prevention of yeast infections of the vagina, throat, esophagus, abdomen, mouth, blood, lungs, and many other organs. It is also used to treat meningitis brought on by fungus. Those who are prone to yeast infections that are undergoing chemotherapy before a bone marrow transplant may take Diflucan.

How do I take Diflucan?

Diflucan comes in the form of a tablet or a liquid suspension. Both should be taken orally.  Typically, Diflucan pills are taken once daily. The dosage instructions will vary based on your condition. Never take less or more of your prescription. Do not discontinue Diflucan without your doctor’s approval.  Even if you feel the infection has resolved, discontinue Diflucan too soon may cause the infection to return.

Before taking Diflucan, tell your doctor if:

  • You have any other drug allergies.
  • You have a history of liver disease or kidney disease.
