Arnuity Ellipta Information:
What is Arnuity Ellipta?
Arnuity Ellipta is an inhaled corticosteroid used to treat asthma. It has been approved for use in adults and children 12 years and older. It should help reduce breathing problems caused by asthma, but it will not relieve sudden symptoms of an asthma attack. If you’re using this medication, you should always carry a ‘rescue inhaler’ with a short-acting bronchodilator medication.
How do I take Arnuity Ellipta?
Your doctor should teach you how to use your inhaler before you start taking Arnuity Ellipta. Follow his or her instructions carefully, and ask for clarification if anything is confusing. Use one inhalation daily at the same time every day. Do not stop using Arnuity Ellipta without first talking to your doctor.
Before taking Arnuity Ellipta, tell your doctor if:
- Are allergic to this or any other medication
- You have a milk protein allergy
- You are taking any other prescription or non-prescription drugs or supplements, especially other corticosteroids
- You have a bacterial, viral, or fungal infection
- You have recently been around someone with measles or chickenpox
- You have a compromised immune system
- You have osteoporosis
- You have liver problems
- You have eye problems, e.g. glaucoma or cataracts
- You are breastfeeding, pregnant, or trying to become pregnant
What are the possible side effects of taking Arnuity Ellipta?
The most common side effects of Arnuity Ellipta are cold-like symptoms, breathing problems, or flu. If you begin experiencing worse breathing problems while taking this medication, tell your doctor. Inform your doctor right away if you experience any serious side effects, such as a fungal infection in your mouth, signs of any other new infection, unusual tiredness, nausea and vomiting, unusually low blood pressure, weakness, or vision changes.
What if I forget to take a dose of Arnuity Ellipta?
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, as long as it is the same day. If it is almost time for the next day’s dose, skip the missed one and continue with your normal schedule. Do not take two doses in the same day.
How do I store Arnuity Ellipta?
Store Arnuity Ellipta in a dry place at room temperature (between 68 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit). Do not remove the medication from its original packaging until you are ready to use it. As with all prescription medications, keep Arnuity Ellipta out of reach of children and pets.
What happens if I overdose on Arnuity Ellipta?
If you or someone in your household overdoses on Arnuity Ellipta, contact the closest emergency room or Poison Control (1-800-222-1222) right away.
Warnings
Suddenly stopping your doses of Arnuity Ellipta may cause your asthma symptoms to get worse. It is very important to talk to your doctor first if you think you no longer need this medication or it is ineffective treatment. If you notice that your breathing problems have gotten worse or that you need to use your rescue inhaler more than usual once you start taking Arnuity Ellipta, contact your doctor as soon as possible.
