What is Aquoral?
Aquoral uses Oxidized Glycerol Triester (OGT) technology, in addition to silicon dioxide, aspartame, and flavoring to help create artificial salvia to lessen the symptoms of dry mouth. The lipid-based solution resembles the composition of human saliva, and helps to moisten and lubricate the oral cavity. This makes it easier to swallow and speak.
How do I use Aquoral?
Aquoral comes in an aluminum canister containing 40mL of the solution with a 0.1mL spray pump, which corresponds to 400 sprays per container. To take Aquoral, gently shake the canister. Administer one dose (2 sprays) into the mouth 3 to 4 times a day. Use your tongue to spread the solution onto particularly inflamed and/or dry areas of your mouth. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions about usage.
Before using Aquoral, tell your doctor if:
- You have any current medical conditions
- You are taking any other medications, both prescription and nonprescription
- You are allergic to any of the active or non-active ingredients of the drug
- You have any other allergies
- If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
What are the possible side effects of using Aquoral?
There have been no common side effects reported with Aquoral. However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice the symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, such as difficulty breathing; tightness in chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; rash; hives.
What if I forget to use a dose of Aquoral?
If you miss a dose of Aquoral spray, there is no cause for concern, even if it is for 1 or more days. Do not take extra doses to make up for the missed ones.
How do I store Aquoral?
You should store Aquoral spray at room temperature (59-86 degrees F). Store it away from moisture, heat, and light, and keep it out of reach of children and pets. Do not store in the bathroom or refrigerator. Do not puncture, break, or burn the canister.
What happens if I overdose on Aquoral?
If you or someone you know may have overdosed on Aquoral, contact the Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222, or go to an emergency room immediately.
Warnings
Read package insert carefully prior to the use of the spray. Close eyes when using spray to reduce risk of getting solution in eyes. If you do get Aquoral spray in your eyes, flush them out with water.
